Power-One, Inc. a leading provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, recently announced the introduction of its new monitoring device, the AURORA CDD.“The AURORA CDD is the perfect add-on for Power-One’s micro-inverters and power optimizers”, said Paolo Casini, Vice President, Product Marketing at Power-One. “Together with the new generation of our AURORA MICRO micro-inverters, we offer our residential customers a new holistic solution which helps them to make the most out of their installation.”
The new monitoring solution has been specifically designed for the use with Power-One’s AURORA MICRO micro-inverters and AURORA OPTI power optimizers. The AURORA CDD allows connecting PV systems to the Internet in a simple and quick way. Using wireless communication technology, the device monitors each micro-inverter and/or optimizer without additional wiring.
Data sampling intervals can be adjusted between every 60 up to four seconds, therefore allowing real time performance monitoring and rapid detection of operational failures. Plant operators and installers can easily access both daily and historical data of their PV application through Power-One’s AURORA Vision Web Portal. The AURORA CDD mesh network topology ensures redundancy in communications and the highest design flexibility.
Moreover, the setup and configuration of the AURORA CDD are rather easy as the box just needs to be installed within 50 meters of the installation. The maximum distance between the application and the CDD can be additionally extended with a repeater. Up to 30 micro-inverters can be directly monitored by a single AURORA CDD.
