During its General Assembly in Madrid EREF, the European Renewables Energies Federation, unanimously re-elected Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes for a second term as president. Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes represents the German Federation of Renewable Energy Associations (Bundesverband Erneuerbarer Energien, BEE). Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes underlined the challenges ahead: “After years of stable growth Renewables are facing some draw backs. I will do my best to further strengthen EREF as the voice of independent producers of energy from Renewable sources. Europe needs Renewables and particularly a smarter integration of centralized and decentralized production and consumption. As a next step, we need an ambitious and binding Renewables target for 2030 for the EU, based on successful national support instruments. And we have to develop, organize and ensure the transformation of the energy system towards 100% Renewables – by 2050 the latest.” The General Assembly also elected the new EREF board, with a promising mix of re-elected members and new board members, the latter coming from Spain (APPA) and Bulgaria (APEE).
